The Lasts....

Photobucket
Sometimes we are not fortunate enough to realize when the "lasts" are going to happen.

I was reminded of this when a friend of mine read a book about this during our last MOPS meeting of this year.

You can't be sure of when they are going to call you "Mama" for the last time.
You can't be sure of the last time they will have a bad dream, and snuggle in the middle.
You can't be sure of the last time your son will hold your hand in public, or the last time your daughter will ASK you to help her with her hair.

I CAN be sure that today is my daughter's last day of preschool....forever.

It's a giant leap.
For me.
For her.
For us.

I love that little girl with all of my being, and every "last" takes my breath away.

Time is a thief.
Hold your little ones tight.
Let them sleep in the middle.
Let them nurse all night.
Give as many hugs, kisses, and cuddles as you can....

I can promise you this:
During infancy the days are long...
but that ONE year is SO short.
Toddler-hood is a flash.
Preschool is a blink.

I can't imagine how fast the next 12 years will go...
but I plan on breathing in and embracing EVERY second.

I love you Reagan!

I know which book you are talking about. I used to read that book at the end of the year parent celebration I would have for the parents of my first graders. I also know how it feels on a personal level as well. Max will have his last day of Kindergarten on Friday and I think I am more upset about that milestone than when he was done with preschool! Holy Cow! I'm going to be an absolute wreck at his high school graduation!

That is a very sweet post. I am glad you are taking the time to embrace the little things in life.

That was lovely. We're looking at both girls in high school next year, and my heart is breaking.
